The Swedish delegation is very thankful for the opportunity to participate in the Baltic Sea Project. We had a nice time in Estonia and the lectures we got to listen to were interesting and we learned a lot. When we got on the ship to Estonia we did not know what to expect from the conference, but we were positively surprised. During the trip we did not only learn about the problems concerning the Baltic Sea but we got to learn about Estonian culture and a bit about the other participating countries as well.
The workshops that we got to choose between were very informative. Everyone chose what sounded the most interesting and fun and when we left the gymnasium everyone was talking about how much fun they had in their workshops, for example the chocolate-world education workshop and the theater improvisation workshop.
The whole idea of the countries surrounding the Baltic Sea, gathering and having a conference to learn about the importance of preserving the environment, is very admirable. It was interesting and educational that Japan was also included as participants, because it is good to learn about how different countries perceive the problems that arise and what kind of natural disasters they have. It gives us a better way of understanding and another way of learning about the different situations in the seas around the world.
We have also been able to experience the other cultures. In Estonia there are differences between generations when it comes to language. From our experience the elders in general did not speak nor understand English as well as the younger Estonians. We also had the opportunity to taste the typical Estonian black bread which had a similar taste to the Swedish breads Lingongrova and Kavring.
What we would have wished for is to get better acquainted with the other participants, like getting our names introduced to each other and playing different games. Overall we are very pleased with the conference in general and everyone is excited to participate in it again another year.
Thank you for this experience!
Best regards,
The Swedish Delegation
